What are my rights as a donor?

Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To assure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the not-for-profit organizations and causes they are asked to support, we declare that all donors have the rights:

  • To be informed of the organization's mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.

  • To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization's governing board and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.

  • To have access to the organization's most recent financial statements.

  • To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.

  • To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.

  • To be assured that information about their donations is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by the law.

  • To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.

  • To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors.

  • To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists that an organization may intend to share.

  • To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.

How can I fundraise for IIF?

Thank you for your interest in fundraising for Invest Islands Foundation. All across the country, generous individuals raise money for Invest Islands Foundation through creative projects, events, campaigns, and programs. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer supporter, the easiest way to get started is by reading through our website and also contact our designated officer that can provide tips and support to all volunteer supporters to make your fundraiser fun and successful. Can I make a donation anonymously?

Yes. On the donate page, check the box that says, “I would like to make this donation anonymously.” This ensures that your name will not appear on our website or printed materials. Please note that IIF will keep a record of your name and information associated with your gift in a secure database for payment processing purposes. IIF will never share this information and will only use it for the purposes of communicating with you directly.

Is my donation secure?

Your security is important to us, and we take every measure to ensure your information is protected. IIF’s donation process complies with the best practices to ensure your personal information is kept private and secure. How much of my donation will go toward programs and services?

Invest Islands Foundation is committed to using funds responsibly to create and execute programs that make an impact in the lives of all those people in need. In fact, 90% out of every donation you donate will go directly to our programs and services.

Where is my donation receipt?

Online donations: You will receive an email confirmation after submitting your online donation. This email serves as your donation receipt. You can print or save the email as proof of receipt for tax purposes.
